Helical springs, which are used for transmitting torque or for storing torsion work, are commonly referred to as torsion springs. They are also known as leg springs since the load is always introduced at the ends of the spring via legs of varying length. Torsion springs are engineered and designed in a standardised manner.
All torsion springs are cold-formed at Lesjöfors Springs Slovakia s.r.o. Different materials (spring steel wire and stainless-steel spring wire) are used to produce these springs, depending on their application.
The most common basic types of torsion springs used by Lesjöfors Springs Slovakia s.r.o. are fitted with either one or two wound bodies arranged symmetrically to each other. The legs can be shaped differently, depending on their intended purpose.
The available installation space, the spring retainer, the torsion work to be stored and the connection to the machine component to be rotated are the defining criteria when designing a leg spring.
